1st Mashariki Fest: At Namboole Stadium On Wed, 8th October 2014
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, 2011 and 2013 World Marathon Champion, Edna Ngeringwony Kiplagat appeared excited about her role in fronting the East African Integration from the sporting perspective.
“I am delighted to have been picked to front this very important cause of the East African integration” she said at a brief press conference held at the Entebbe International Airport VIP lounge.
Kipalagat highlighted about how self discipline, belief, commitment and dedicated training has spurred many leading athletes world over.
“I will share my personal experiences as an elite athlete and see we help many work their way to stardom”, Kiplagat added.
Fellow Kenyans, Wilson Kipsang, and Double Olympic champion Ezekiel Kemboi had delayed flights and will arrive by Wednesday morning, just in time for the main celebrations at Mandela Stadium.
They will be joined by Uganda’s celebrated trio of Dorcas Inzikuru, Stephen Kiprotich, Olympic and World Marathon champion and Double Commonwealth 10,000 meters champion Moses Kipsiro.
About Mashariki Fest:
Afrika Mashariki Fest is a platform for the young generation of the East African region to meet and deliberate on issues pertaining the fast tracking of the regional integration.
The event shall be held annually on rotational basis through East African Community Member States. General Elly Tumwine is the main brain behind this event.
