Africa’s female fastest rider, Brittany Cuthbert will take part in the second round of the National Motocross Championship due March 27th at the Motorsports Arena Busiika.
The event will run under the theme ‘Promoting Women in Motocross’
The South African will race in MX1 class taking on the National champion Maxime Van Pee.
“I am so excited to come over there, Uganda will be the third Africa country to visit and am looking forward to experience MX there especially with the ladies,” she told Kawowo Sports.
Cuthbert is a South African national who was recognised as one of the fastest female riders after she won the 2013 Africa Intercontinental Championship (AMU) and the Interprovincial Challenge in the same year.
She won the same titles in 2014 before she moved to compete in Europe.
Speaking at the launch of the event, Noella Blick a Ugandan representative for Women in Motocross (WIM) says Cuthbert’s coming will be a great inspiration for all ladies in motorsport.
“WIM was commissioned to expose women in Motorcycling that’s why we bring Cuthbert to encourage the females in MX,” she said.
“We want her to show the girl power to prove that the sport is not just a man’s sport and women can also compete and excel,” she said.
Uganda has not more than twelve females riders currently, however the number is gradually growing.
