Yesterday Gerald and I concluded route survey, we have mapped what we believe to be an excellent route for both novice and elite riders. Both stages are 40km long, with a superb mix of open trails and single track forest paths. There are no significant technical sections, so anybody could ride 100% of the course, except for the two sections with less than 5 metres of rockery.

The two stages are very different from each other, offering a wide variety of terrain to ride across. The views out into the bowels of the Rift Valley are spectacular.

ELITE RIDERS are welcome to race 2 laps on both days, they will start ahead of all other single lap teams. Teams racing 2 laps must confirm in advance by email. Times will be recorded for both laps.

Stage 1, 40km, 670m ascent: is an open trail course, fast and flowing jeep track with some single track. The route heads down into the Rift Valley to reach Water Point 1 at the half way point. Thereafter it’s a steady climb back to base.

Stage 2, 41km, 580m ascent: is a single track, forested course, fast and flowing with dense bush in some places. The route is mostly within the Ngong Forest complex, a few short easy gradient climbs will remind everybody what their legs are for. Water Point 2 will be just after the half way point.

RVO Ngong Hills is 2-day mountain bike race within the Ngong Hills and Forest area. A moderate level of physical fitness and novice technical skills are required to enjoy riding RVO Ngong Hills. Young riders aged 14 upwards are encouraged to join in the experience on Sunday (only).

RVO Ngong Hills is best suited to the inexperienced mountain biker that yearns for cycling adventure.
