The Kenyatta cup was inaugurated by Kenya’s first president “Mzee” Jomo Kenyatta.

The cup is for apprentice jockeys only and it is a prestigious race that all apprentices want to win. The race gives apprentices the chance to ride top horses for a top race. The race is over the sprint distance and is hotly contested. This year there are 8 quality entrants in the handicap “Kenyatta Cup” race. The race will be “off” at 3.30 pm this means you should be there to see the horses in the parade ring shortly after 3pm.

This Sunday the 25th of October 2015 there are eight races with two feature races.

The first race of the day at 12.35pm is “The Galana River Handicap” – 1600m.

Followed by the first feature race of the day at 1.10pm ”The Lord McMillan Cup”- 1600m.

Then at 1.45pm “The Malewa River Handicap”- 1800m will run.

The fourth race of the day at 2.20pm is ”The Ol Arabel River Handicap” – 1000m”, then “The Gucha River Maiden” – 1600m at 2.55pm.

The second feature race of the day is “The Kenyatta Cup” – 1200m at 3.30pm.

The seventh race of the day is ‘The Kerio River Handicap” -1800m at 4.05pm

The last race of the day at 4.40pm is “The Naro Moru Handicap” – 2400m.
