Kenyan rising star Karan Patel has entered the 73rd Rally WRC Poland slated for June 30 to July 3.
Upon retiring in the 63rd Safari Rally, Karan, also known as KP announced that he will now concentrate on the WRC and be back to tackle the season-ending Guru Nanak Rally in November. And after weeks of programmed training, the 24-year-old Patel finally made his WRC debut in the “Drive Dmack Fiesta Trophy” in Portugal and is seeking to tackle four other Europe-based events in Poland, Finland, Germany and Spain.
The car he’s driving in the five-rally campaign is a Ford Fiesta R2 Eco-Boost and stands a chance of participating in full seven round season in WRC 2 in 2017 should he excel in the category. Karan is being navigated by Philip Michael Hall in the campaign. During his debut, Karan rolled out of Rally Portugal but savoured brushing shoulders with the worlds best.
“Our first test with the Ford Fiesta R2 was quite good. This particular rally car is fitted with a 1600cc natural aspirated engine as opposed to the 1.0L turbo engine which is in our actual rally car.
