Horseman_Peroni.pngPeroni lifted Division A’s Main Cup, Horseman Trophy, in the Samsung Galaxy Nairobi polo tournament played at the Nairobi Polo Club over the weekend.

Peroni beat determined Keringet 5-4.5 goals in the main Cup duel.
Martin Kaiser, who replaced Peroni’s injured captain Philou Salle, played a key role to lead the side to the slim win—scoring all the five goals in the match.

Keringet went into the match with handicap difference of a fraction and Pete Griffiths registered the first goal before Martin Waiganjo slotted in a brace. Griffiths then pulled his second goal just before the match ended. Both Griffiths and Waiganjo came into the tournament playing off handicap 2.

Kaiser is now focused to deliver victory for his team when they head to North Kenya’s Timau Polo tournament slated for July 17.

“Together with the team, I  wanted to honour Philou and make him happy and I am proud to be part of our team,” said an elated Kaiser.

“I felt honoured and appreciated to be selected as his replacement in the winning team,” added Kaiser who turned up for, and captained Miller before joining Preroni.

Playing in Division A, Stanlib won 5-4 over Samsung Galaxy S in a match that was forced to go to the 5th chukka to determine the winner of Sheik Plate. After finishing 4-4 in regular 4 chukkas, Stanlib were the first over the back-line thus their victory.

Samsung Galaxy Tab were the winners of the OMT Bowl narrowly beating Samsung Galaxy Note I in a match that ended 6-6.5. Samsung Galaxy Tab started the match with an advantage of a fraction and went ahead to score six through Mbu Ngugi (2) who netted 4, Topper Murray (1) and Ashe Ahluwalia (0.5) scoring a brace each. Philip Arunga topscored for Samsung Galaxy Note with two goals while Gedion Moi and Jamie Hyward (who replaced Phyllipa Marrian) scored one each.

Division B: LST Challenge Cup attacked four teams: Samsung Galaxy Gear, Samsung Galaxy Note, Samsung Galaxy Tab and Keringet. The matches were played in a round robin manner and Samsung Galaxy Tab won all their three matches, emerging winners of the categories.
