After failing to lead Uganda to a notable position at the world relays in Bahamas last month, Uganda’s Julius Mutekanga started concentrating on trying to run into the Commonwealth Games by setting a season’s best at the 2014 Adrian Martinez Classic on Thursday evening.
Mutekanga, who finished 6th in the Friday evening meet crossed the finishing line in a time of 1 minute 47.91 seconds, though the time was both outside the Commonwealth Games qualifying mark of 1:46.50 and over a second below his personal best of 1:46.50.
“I will try to improve on my personal best. That is my target this season,” said Mutekanga, who was beaten to the 2013 World Championships 800m slot by Ronald Musagala.
