After the sublime performance in the 2016 Kenya National Rally Championship season opener in Kajiado over the weekend, Jas Mangat is determined to equal or even better his performance in the Uganda National Rally Championship.
Mangat showed intention from the start posting the fourth fastest time in stage one and fifth in stage two in KajIado.
He improved his pace to claim the 10km stage three. He eventually finished fourth overall just over three minutes behind rally winner Tapio Laukkanen.
“We did enough preparations prior to Kajiado rally. We were happy after coming fourth in stage one, it was something we didnt expect,” says Mangat.
“We kept pushing giving our whole in stage three which we eventually won,” he added.
The two-time Uganda rally champion believes Kajiado rally prepared him for the local events.
“Am just looking forward to a better performance in the upcoming event in Kabale this month,” he said.
“Participating in Kenya always gives you a good platform to compete,” he added.
He however confesses that he might miss in action this weekend in Busiika.
“I really love to race in Busiika but like you know in Kenya you cant win a stage and the car remains in shape.”
“So we broke a few things and it might be hard to fix it on time,” he added.
Mangat will take part in the full competitive season in Uganda.
