Two-time Uganda national rally champion Jas Mangat is all set to battle Kenya’s finest drivers at this weekend’s Kisumu Rally.

Mangat makes a come back after months out of the sport. He will be driving his Mitsubishi EVO X as he attempts this year’s Kenya national rally championship.

Mangat pairs up with Cedric Buzabo who will call the pace notes. Buzabo won last year’s Uganda navigator’s championship and is relishing yet another Kisumu experience.

He is also optimistic Mangat will fair well. “You know he [Mangat] spent a year without driving consistently. So the first rally is basically to put him back into competition,” says Buzabo.
Mechanical problems frustrated Mangat’s charge for victory last year failing to finish a single rally. However, Buzabo confirmed that the EVO is fixed and in good condition awaiting action.

“The car had some problems but he brought mechanics from UK to monitor it. “Now its fixed, we tested it a few weeks ago and it was good,” he added.

The weekend rally will feature a total of six stages, three of which will be repeated twice.
