Victoria Mall Fishing Competition:
Winner: Douglas Mukwaya (14.5kg)
After winning the 2014 Nile Perch fishing competition held at the Entebbe Sailing club, Douglas Mukwaya attributed luck than any other aspect to his victory.
“For sure, I did not dream of such a victory but it is by luck that I am the winner”, Mukwaya told Kawowo Sports, shortly after his catch weighed heaviest at 14.5kg.
Mukwaya emerged the overall winner out of the 46 participants who took part in the first ever Nile Perch fishing classic competition held at the Entebbe Sailing Club, on Lake Victoria.
He also won the boat prize category that had 12 boats.
A one Mohammed whose Nile Perch weighed 8kgs, was second placed. He too earned a trophy, internet data (from Smile Telecom) and shopping vouchers from Nakumatt super market.
Peter Dejong, whose Nile perch weighed 3kgs, was third placed. He also emerged winner in the junior category.
Christian Ericsson and Sian Golding won in the hidden weight category while Sacha Allard Junior had the smallest catch.
Cymon Charnley one of the event organizers revealed that the Victoria mall fishing classic competitions will be held every year and beginning next year there will be four more competitions.
All the 10 Nile perch fish that was caught was given to Entebbe Welfare Primary School for Children with special needs.
The one day event was sponsored by Nakumatt Victoria Mall Entebbe, Total Uganda, Entebbe Sailing Club and Mega Industries Limited.
