The Kenya Motor Sport Federation have issued the permit for the 2015 Total Quartz Economy Run set for June 20th. This will be the 33rd Economy Run in the annual series and organisers Alfa Romeo Owners Club will use it to celebrate the Club’s 45th anniversary year.
Competitors will cover an 84 kilometre route between the ABC Service Station in Waiyaki Way and the Total Service Station in Naivasha town within a set time. The driver using the lowest amount of fuel will be the overall winner. The event will demonstrate the benefits of using Total Quartz motor oil and driving safely to cut the cost of motoring by conserving fuel.
Already entries have been received from Shailesh Chandaria with a 1983 Alfa Giulietta, Shiv Agheda in a 1.8 litre Alfetta saloon and legendary Concours d’Elegance competitor Sati Gata Aura who will be at the wheel of his 1973 GTV.
Mike Anderson won the 2014 event and is expected to defend his title. Last year’s event was close fought and Anderson took first place by the narrow margin of Sh28 worth of petrol from the 2010 winner Amon Hajula.
The Economy Run will be the first event in the Naivasha outing and will be followed by a car care competition. This will feature separate classes for CBA Africa Concours d’Elegance cars and normal road machines. The prize giving for both events will be held at the Lake Naivasha Country Club.
