Winners of the Kilimanjaro Marathon held in Moshi on March 2 this year, will finally receive their prizes after being tested free of doping substance.
According to a senior official of the Executive Solution, who are the local coordinators of the event, Ibrahim Kyaruzi, urine samples collected from at least six runners who competed in this year’s event were sent to World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) centres in South Africa for analysis and to make sure that the athletes are clean.
He said the winners will now be free to collect their cash prizes after passing the dope test. “We are glad to announce that all athletes, whose samples were sent to South Africa’s Doping Control Laboratory at the Bloemfontein University, have passed the test and the winners will now be rightly rewarded,” he said.
