The launch of the second round of the National Rally Championship put into anticipation what a debut rally is bound to have.
The event runs on Easter weekend and will be the first of its kind in Kabale district. The rally runs under the title name ‘Gorillas In The Mist’
The theme aims at promoting the country’s tourism by profiling the mountain gorillas as one of Uganda’s best rated tourist attractions.
“In a bid to promote tourism, we have carefully designed the rally route to traverse areas like around lake Bunyonyi and the famous Kitagata hot springs,” says the event manager Kagolo Kees.
The rally consists of ten stages of which four will be covered on day one while six on day two.
The Clerk of the course; Katende Mukiibi shared with Kawowo Sports more about the rally.
“The rally will run on high altitudes with narrow and twisty routes. This will basically call for drivers to take on fair speeds,” he said.
To spice up the event, a drifting contest will be organised on the eve of event in Kabale town.
“We are organising drifting before the event. This is aimed at encouraging more people to come and join the mainstream sport,” says Katende.
