The Chinese government has pledged a grant of 860-million shillings to African countries to boost wildlife and environmental protection.
Consequently, Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has received a grant of equipment worth 45.6 million shillings for wildlife protection. The donation comprises of night vision equipment.
It is expected that rangers securing wildlife ranges in the country will now track suspected poachers day and night.
The Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang who made a two day state visit to Kenya made the announcement when he visited KWS on Saturday (May 10, 2014) accompanied by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto among other top China and Kenya officials.
The Prime Minister, President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto later toured Nairobi National Park on a KWS customised tour vehicle.
