Jaspreet Chatthe won the Oryx Energies Rally of Tanzania to top the African Rally Championship standings over the weekend. The Kisumu based Team Kibos driver becomes first Kenyan driver to win an event in Tanzania since 2002, after winning in Dar-es-salaam on Sunday.
A total of 12 cars survived the demanding course out of 19 starters. Chatthe, who was navigated by Zambian legendary navigator, Dave Sihoka jointly leads the ARC series with Gary Chaynes of Ivory Coast on 58 points. Chanyes was disqualified from the Tanzanian Rally after he was found to have breached one of the rules governing the sport. Chanyes and Rwanda’s Giancarl Davite had already finished the rally before the officials applied the rules to knock them of the event.
