Ugandan Maxime Van Pee is in town ahead of the FIM Africa motocross Championship in Nairobi this weekend. Maxime, who will represent Uganda in MX1 class, has been training at Jamhuri Park for the past three days to familiarise with the track conditions well in time for Sunday showdown.
The race will feature riders from Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. The Ugandan speedster will be up against the Kenyan duo of Ivan Guya and Tutu Maina in what’s expected to be a cut-throat regional showdown. Guya is the current MX1 defending champion.
Organizers East African Motor Sports Club (EAMSC) have lined up a series of events to shore up the main competition. Apart from the main race, there will be “Boda Boda” finals to add on to the day’s entertainment programme. The event is sponsored by Total, Car & General among other sponsors.
Kenya will field the likes of Rohan Gandhi and Apollo Muki in MX2 and Elias Sherman, Rolf Kihara and Ethan Nyachae (MX85). Kenya’s brigade in the MX125 has the usual suspects in Samir Anwar and Ngugi Waweru with Kigen Kiplgat flying the country’s flag in MX65.
